Marketing trends and channels evolve over time. While some trends come and go quickly, one of the channels that stood the test of time is email.

It’s one of my favourite channels because it is excellent for community building and engaging with your customers on what feels like a one-on-one level.

Email continues to be the top channel for content marketing with both B2C and B2B marketers. 93% of B2B marketers use email for distributing content and 72% of customers prefer email as their main channel for business communication.

So, email marketing continues to be a critical strategy for marketing across an array of industries and business types and it consistently delivers a better ROI than any other marketing channel.

But enough of that. You’re here because you want to grow your business — and need an email marketing software that’s easy to use, affordable, and will nurture and convert potential customers.

Email marketing software is so much more than sending and tracking emails. It helps you increase your audience, segment your lists, and combine all your marketing channels.

I’ve put together this list of the top email marketing software on the market right now because there are so many email marketing tools available today that it makes it tricky to choose the right one.

Here’s my verdict on the 11 best email marketing platforms for 2022:

ActiveCampaign

With over 130,000 customers, ActiveCampaign was the most commonly mentioned tool that survey respondents were planning to choose for email marketing software in 2022.

It includes all the features you’d expect like automation, segmentation, triggered emails, email funnels, autoresponders, A/B testing, and scheduling.

It also includes more advanced features like conditional content, geotracking, managed deliverability, and multi-user editing.

It’s by far the most advanced email marketing platform on my list, with machine learning and predictive tools enabling marketers to work smarter and deliver higher ROI.

As an all-in-one sales and marketing, ActiveCampaign comes with an in-built CRM system to manage your sales, live chat, and of course email marketing automation in one place.

Pricing: Pricing starts at $9/month.

Mailchimp

Mailchimp is the best overall email marketing software because it has the features that most businesses need, without being overly complicated or confusing.

Businesses can schedule campaigns, A/B test copy, and get reports that include open rates, click-through rates, unsubscribe rates, and more. Plus, it has the most generous free-forever plans of the software we tested.

While it started as a purely email-focused solution, the platform offers much more today. You can build a free website, buy a domain, create paid ads and landing pages, publish social media posts, and send printed postcards to any destination in the world.

Pricing: Mailchimp offers a free plan for up to 2,000 contacts and one audience. Paid plans start at $9.99/month.

Sendinblue

Sendinblue offers one of the most popular email marketing services on the market. Everything you need to launch and track an email campaign is built in. Add your content to their machine and watch your outreach take flight.

It is an extremely easy-to-use platform with excellent tools to create beautiful and highly engaging emails. Their simple drag-and-drop email editor is perfect for beginners with no experience in email marketing.

On top of email, SendinBlue also has a forms tool that allows you to collect new leads, which you can then segment into specific lists and enter into email nurturing campaigns.

Pricing: Sendinblue is free for up to 300 emails per day to unlimited contacts. Pricing starts at $25/month for up to 10,000 emails.

ConvertKit

ConvertKit is one of my favourite email marketing services. It’s a perfect choice for creators of all stripes. That includes influencers, bloggers, video producers, musicians, artists, and more.

That’s because their platform focuses more on engaging your audience and nurturing them with landing pages, eCommerce platforms, and membership sites.

With ConvertKit, you can easily segment subscribers into those who are interested and those who have already purchased. This helps you increase conversions with automated emails that feel more personal. In marketing terms, this is called targeted email marketing.

They have all the powerful features you’d expect from a top-notch email marketing service such as a/b testing, beautiful email templates, landing page builder, smart workflows, and more.

Pricing: ConvertKit offers a free plan for up to 1,000 subscribers. Paid plans start at $29/month.

Drip

Drip is one of the more advanced email marketing platforms on my list and is the perfect option for eCommerce businesses because of its seamless integration with eCommerce platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, and Magento.

They’re also great for newer brands looking to get a leg up. With Drip, you can track valuable commerce metrics related to customer intent and purchase behaviour.

You’ll be able to segment new website visitors from returning customers. Drip also lets you target users who abandoned their carts.

Even though it’s a bit pricey, we believe Drip is the best email marketing software for eCommerce websites and business owners who want more advanced features to maximize their marketing efforts.

Pricing: Drip offers a free trial. Pricing starts at $19/month.

GetResponse

GetResponse is a bit more than a basic email marketing service. It’s more of an all-in-one solution that specializes in automation.

And when I say all-in-one, I mean it.

With features such as audience segmentation, autoresponders, landing page builders, automated emails, advanced analytics, and even a webinar software, you’ll be able to collect beaucoup leads, put them in the right workflows, and turn them into returning customers.

Altogether, GetResponse packs a set of powerful features geared toward brand growth. From A/B testing to a comprehensive analytics tool that tracks email campaign performance.

HubSpot is elite in offering businesses an all-in-one sales and marketing platform that includes a CRM, landing pages, email marketing, marketing automation, chat, forms, and everything in between.

With HubSpot, you don’t need any design skills to create personalized, professional-looking emails.

One of its most attractive features is that as it’s also powered by HubSpot’s CRM, you have access to accurate customer data that you can use to customize your emails.

HubSpot comes with all the powerful features you’d expect from an enterprise-level email marketing software such as send time optimization, A/B testing, detailed performance analytics, marketing automation, drip campaigns, and more.

AWeber has powerful email marketing features such as AMP emails, automatic RSS-to-email for bloggers, and tag-based subscriber segmentation.

It’s clean and drag-and-drop-based, making it easy to use for anyone who needs to quickly build and deploy a landing page along with an email campaign.

Constant Contact is a great platform for those newer to the email marketing world.

Their intuitive drag-and-drop email builder allows you to easily create new emails that look good and on-brand. Adding text, images, videos, coupons, polls, and events to any message is simple and straightforward.

The service comes with over 100 email templates that you can either use as-is or customize. Once your email looks good, you can easily schedule it to send to your contacts at any time you choose.

In addition to that, you can also have emails go out at a regular cadence to celebrate specific events — for example, you could have a regular email go out on each customer’s birthday.

Pricing: Constant Contact offers a one-month free trial. Pricing starts at $20/month.

MailerLite

MailerLite is extremely easy to use because it has a drag-and-drop interface that makes it fun and intuitive to create the design you want.

Simplicity is at the heart of the company’s mission, which is why the software has a clean and streamlined look.

It offers a free-forever plan that includes 1,000 subscribers and 12,000 email sends. If you need more bandwidth or want more advanced features, there is a paid plan.

It’s a great option for anyone who wants a straightforward email marketing service. You’re a creator who doesn’t need a ton of bells and whistles. You just need the tools to start your newsletter or manage a simple campaign.

For beginners and personal projects, where you just need to send beautiful email campaigns to engage your audience, MailerLite is ideal.

Pricing: MailerLite is free for up to 1,000 subscribers and 12,000 emails per month. Pricing starts at $10/month.

Omnisend

Omnisend is designed to help e-commerce brands control their marketing across multiple channels.

They offer automated email, SMS, push notifications, and most impressively, integrations with Google Ads, Instagram, Facebook Ads, Messenger, and WhatsApp — which they claim have 10X higher click-through rates than email.
