In the browser world, Google Chrome is the go-to option with over 60% market share and has some of the best productivity functionalities.

If you didn’t know yet, Chrome has a litany of extensions, specifically designed to make your life on the web easier.

After all, tools are an administrator’s friends, and one can’t live without them.

Whether you’re a designer, a developer, a marketer, or a managing director, Chrome extensions will make your working life easier and more productive.

To help you be your most productive self, I’ve compiled 15 of the best Chrome extensions for productivity that you can download today.

1. Grammarly

Grammarly is an online grammar checker that inspects writing for spelling, grammar, tone of voice, and punctuation. Using AI, Grammarly identifies errors and improves the style and engagement of your writing.

When you connect Grammarly to your web browser, you’ll see your mistakes on emails, Google Docs, social media, and other online platforms in real time.

Using Grammarly might not help you produce more work, but it will ensure your writing is correct and help to reduce the time spent manually editing.

2. Liner

Liner helps you to take notes when you’re browsing the web, allowing you to highlight specific sentences to save them for later.

You can take your pick of four different colours and sort your highlights into different folders to make it as easy as possible to access your information.

It also allows you to take notes on PDFs, making it the perfect chrome extension if you spend a lot of time reading and researching through your web browser.

3. Forest

Forest is a unique productivity tool that limits the time you spend on time-wasting websites. With Forest, you’ll have a visual representation of your efforts on a project.

When you start a project, you “plant a plant” in Forest. While you’re working, the tree will grow. Leaving the app will cause your tree to die.

Visualizing your lack of productivity is helpful for many — especially visual learners. Plus, using this tool has real-world benefits.

4. Win the Day

Win the Day is probably one of the best named apps I’ve ever come across. Who doesn’t want to win their day? This extension is specifically designed to remind you of and help you achieve your goals, which are displayed on your browser homepage.

It also helps you build new habits — you can enter up to three new habits you want to work on within the extension and set time period.

5. Everhour

Everhour helps you save time. It will integrate Chrome time tracking and reporting with your browser while tapping into your Everhour account and its third-party integrations with Asana, Basecamp, Trello, Jira, and more.

Of course, the extension won’t help you to get much done without an account, which is why they offer a free 14-day trial with no card required.

6. Switch

Switch is a Chrome extension app that helps you stay organized by managing your tabs, accounts and projects from a single browser.

Its intuitive design facilitates the way the average busy digital worker operates — switching between projects, work and home life regularly.

It cuts out the clumsy log in, log out process when working from multiple accounts, plus it gives you full visibility over all of your tabs at any time.

What’s best is it easily integrates with all of your existing applications and tools, so when you install Switch, there’s no need to change a thing.

7. LastPass

LastPass is a freemium password management tool that stores passwords safely whenever you need them.

With this extension, you can automatically log in to your accounts on Google Chrome without manually entering your information. Lastpass will autofill these forms and remember your passwords for you.

Reducing the time spent searching for passwords and speeding up logins saves you countless unproductive hours. It’s also far safer than storing your passwords in a notes application.

8. Trello

As a platform, Trello is known for its task management capabilities. So, there’s no doubt that its Chrome extension is a powerhouse in its own right.

The extension allows you to turn an email into a to-do item with just one click. The colour-coded label allows you to prioritize each task.

You can also create boards by grouping emails about a task in one place and share it with your team members to collaborate.

9. OneTab

OneTab solves all your tab troubles. Instead of having dozens of tabs open, this extension puts them in a handy list in one new tab page. That way, all the key links that you want to use are just a single click away.

You can save up to 95% of your web browser memory because you won’t have a lot of open tabs. This keeps you productive and your desktop/laptop clean.

10. Buffer

Buffer is one of the most efficient ways to create and schedule content on social networks. It makes it easy for you to schedule posts at any time, from any website, and you’ll also receive analytical feedback to let you know how well each post performed.

One of Buffer’s big advantages is that it will space your updates out throughout the day instead of posting them all in bulk. If you’re looking for an app that will make it look like you never sleep, this is the one for you.

11. Timewarp

TimeWarp is one of those browser extensions that sounds like a joke, but then you realize it’s the exact thing that has been missing your whole life.

When you type in a non-productive, time-wasting website, it takes you back to a more productive one, to a motivational quote, image, or a timer where it shows you how much time you’ve already spent on the site.

It’s time to get things done, and TimeWarp makes sure you have a lot of time to do it.

12. Right Inbox

Right Inbox is a tremendously powerful tool to ease your workflow, and more than 250,000 professionals use it every day to increase their email productivity.

The Right Inbox Chrome extension supercharges your Gmail usage with 4 powerful features, one of which is email scheduling, which is super helpful for startups that work in different time zones.

They have also recently added the email tracking feature to their free plan to bring your email productivity to the next level.

13. Hunter

If you’re anything like me, you hate having to search around websites to find the email address for support or a specific department.

The Hunter app fixes that by crawling the website for email addresses and returning all results in seconds with a name, email address, and department.

Then, click the extension icon on your Chrome browser, and you’ve got everything you need.

Best of all, they do it for free and through the extension. Other services charge hundreds to do the same thing from their website!

14. RescueTime

RescueTime is effective time management and productivity Chrome extension that takes the manual effort out of time recording. It records the time you spent on any active window on your Chrome browser.

RescueTime also classifies certain websites based on their productivity and assigns them a score. This data helps you understand just how and when you were most productive during your day.

15. GoFullPage

GoFullPage makes it easier to take and store screenshots while you’re browsing the web, and it’s designed to capture the whole page.

Simply click on the browser button or use the handy keyboard shortcut and you’ll be taken to your screenshot — which you can easily right click and save or simply drag to your desktop.

This extension only does one thing, but it’s very, very good at it.

Conclusion

With Google Chrome extensions, you can get more work done in less time, stay focused on what matters, and keep your notes and data in one central location.

Though they are great, they can come at a cost. If you use too many, your browser can start to lag, and if that happens then it defeats the purpose of using those extensions in the first place.

Like anything, the key is moderation.

Happy working. Productivity awaits. :)
